Campaign for Game Fish Conservation
We need your help. No matter where you fish, the species you seek, or the techniques you prefer, the successful future of recreational fishing depends on your getting involved. For 68 years, the International Game Fish Association has taken an active, leadership role in fisheries conservation on a world wide basis. Today, we have renewed our efforts to protect and preserve viable recreational fishing through the development and implementation of state-of-the-art programs designed to accomplish this critical mission.
Now, we need your help. No matter where you fish, the species you seek, or the techniques you prefer, the successful future of recreational angling depends on your getting involved.
IGFA believes that the key to conservation of fish species is to couple scientific research with the education of anglers around the world. Also important will be the ability of IGFA to launch new programs that teach, encourage, and celebrate the sport of fishing. To accomplish this goal, IGFA has launched the Campaign for Game Fish Conservation.
The Campaign has four initiatives:
Education and Outreach Initiative
We believe that education is the key to sustaining the future of our sport. Key educational goals of the IGFA are to excite and inspire the public to explore the world of angling and to encourage young people to become stewards of the environment.
The Conservation Initiative
Through research studies and record keeping, IGFA keeps the angling world up-to-date about fish stocks, endangered species and efforts to ensure our oceans stay stocked.
International Fishing Hall of Fame Initiative
Our International Fishing Hall of Fame holds the world’s largest collection of angling literature available in the world. Permanent and changing exhibits provide educational tools, historical memorabilia and interactive exhibits provide excellent learning tools to Hall of Fame visitors.
Endowment Initiative
The IGFA Endowment will protect the legacy and future of our organization as well as the legacy and future our sport. The endowment will secure support for IGFA’s critical conservation and education mission.
