Scout Programs
Fishing Belt Loop Program (T, W, B, Wb) – Scouts will demonstrate how to properly bait a hook while trying to catch a fish in IGFA’s front ponds. After reviewing the local fishing regulations, scouts will explain why they are important and will commit to following them. Fishing Merit Badge Program (BS) – Scouts will learn about different types of fishing equipment while trying to catch fish in the ponds in front IGFA. To get closer to earning their badge, scouts will identify lures and live bait, tie knots, explain regulations and practice ethical angling. Fly Fishing Merit Badge Program (BS) – Scouts will learn how to match fly rod, line, and leader to get a balanced system. Along with explaining the different types of flies to use while fishing, scouts will learn to tie at least 2 types of flies. Casting is a major part of fly fishing, scouts will travel up to Tigertail lake to refine their casting techniques.
